Cecil R Watson
KAYSVILLE – Cecil R Watson, beloved husband, father, and grandfather died October 31, 2009, of complications due to a long battle against Parkinson’s disease. Cecil demonstrated dignity and endurance as he struggled with this illness. Born September 24, 1924 in Tetonia, Idaho, to Parley and Charlet Watson. Third of seven children. He graduated high school in Hagerman, Idaho, then served his country in the Marine Corps in World War II. Cecil was a faithful and valiant member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to the Western Canadian Mission and served in many ecclesiastical callings. He and his wife, Elaine, served as a senior missionary couple in Melbourne, Australia, and several years together as temple workers in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Cecil married Donna Gold in 1949; she died shortly after their marriage. He attended Washington State University in Pullman where he became a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He married Elaine Wallin on December 22, 1954, in the Logan LDS Temple.
He was employed by the USDA as a Federal Veterinarian. This job moved the family all around the United States. He was a man of integrity, faith, devotion, and service. Cecil’s Christ-like attributes in word and action taught and blessed his posterity and all who knew him. We will miss Daddy’s bear hugs, laughter, and wisdom. His enduring legacy is his commitment, service, and love to his family. He delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They could always bring a smile to his face.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine, and seven children: Carla (John) Mackey, West Bloomfield, Michigan; Paula (Richard) Talbot, Gilbert, Arizona; Rozla (Lynn) Olsen, Helena, Montana; Joela (Brent) Craven, Layton, Utah; Bradlee (Suzanne), Provo, Utah; Roddlee (Angie), Springfield, Idaho; Donnlee (Ann) Syracuse, Utah; 32 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the devoted doctors, Haven Hospice, and Solace Home Healthcare for their dedicated and loving care of Daddy.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Fairfield LDS Chapel, 380 S. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Friends and family may gather Friday, November 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the chapel.
