Sally Ann Maestas, 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend died on November 2, 2024, surrounded by her family. Sally Ann was born to Raymond and Esther Jaramillo on August 25, 1937, just minutes after her twin sister, in Fruita, Colorado. She grew up in Colorado and Utah with her older brother Christopher and her twin sister Sally Ruth. When she was 20 years old, she married the love of her life Nicomedas (Nick) Maestas. They were blessed with four children during their 67 years of marriage. For a long time, Sally was a stay-at-home mom until all her children were in school, even then she followed them to school where she was a manager in the cafeteria of several of the elementary schools.
Sally was passionate about spending time with family, the devotion and joy of her life was raising a family. Everything she did revolved around them from crafting, camping, bowling, or just spending time in her garden. Sally was a great cook and loved cooking for family and friends, everyone she met was a friend. Sally found joy simply by spending quality time with those she loved. Sally and Nick spent as much time as they could during their retirement traveling and fishing. Sally loved being on the go, a saying the family had was “if a car was going Sally was in it”.
Sally is survived by her daughter Pauline (Ron) Higginson of Syracuse, UT, son Mike (Linda) Maestas of Palmer, AK, daughter Annette (David) Haakinson of Vernal, UT, son Daniel (Emily) Maestas of Vernal, UT, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 6 brothers, 1 sister, many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
