Charlb "Toby" Twitchell

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend returned to her Heavenly home on Saturday October 31, 2009 after an extended illness.

Toby was born May 9, 1933 to Clarence and Beatrice Rackham in Ogden where she grew and was educated and spent her entire life. Following her parent''s divorce, her father married Lottie Griffin who was a big part of Toby and the family''s lives.

She married Peter Twitchell, her lifelong companion, on June 15, 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.

She spent her life in the service of her husband and five children and became friends with many of the area residents through her work at the Dinner Horn Market, where she worked as a cashier.

She loved country western music, trips to Yellowstone National Park and visits with her sister Barbara in Las Vegas, Nevada. She spent many hours and days with her grandchildren helping them to enjoy life and grow into responsible adults. She loved animals, especially her vicious 3.5 pound watch dog "Duke". She loved having big parties for any occasion. She loved her family deeply and was always a loving and caring person. She had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

She served in several capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints including Primary President, Primary Teacher and a Visiting Teacher. She loved to attend the baptisms of Primary children and would present them with a new copy of the Book of Mormon and a photo to remember the special day.

Toby is survived by her husband Peter; two sisters, Barbara Leavitt, Las Vegas, NV; Carol Russell, Ogden, UT; her children, Craig (Marla) Twitchell, Dale City, VA; Julie (Laurence), Smith, Ogden, UT; Rick (Julia) Twitchell, West Point, UT; Todd Twitchell, North Ogden, UT; and Shauna (Kelly) Kolb, Roy, UT; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister and one great-grandchild.

The family would like to thank the staff at Crestwood Care Center for their attentive and compassionate care during her last weeks of life.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
