Charlene “Chris” Shupe Russell
September 19, 1929 ~ March 5, 2018
Charlene “Chris” Shupe Russell, age 88, passed away on March 5, 2018 in Evanston Wyoming.
Born on September 19, 1929 in Huntsville, UT, she was the second child of 12 born to Charles Daniel and Anna Helen Kelly Shupe. She lived in Huntsville, South Ogden, Ogden and Evanston WY. She worked for the Commercial Security Bank and later IRS, retiring after 28 years. She married F. Max Russell and together they had two children, Greg of Ogden UT and Cheri of Evanston WY.
Charlene had a cabin in Sun Ridge and loved spending as much time there as possible. Everyone was always welcome at her mountain getaway. She often reminisced about hunting in Middlefork and boating and fishing on Pineview and Flaming Gorge. She always made sure she had a deer tag and spent many days on the mountain. Charlene enjoyed gardening and it was common for her to preserve (can) anything and everything she could. Charlene felt at home in the outdoors, surrounded by nature.
Charlene was the most generous and kind person one could meet. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. Charlene’s natural giving heart was one of a kind.
Charlene is survived by her son, Gregory Max Russell; daughter, Cheri Ann Kelso; grandchildren, Christopher Max Russell, Gennie Lee Russell Tucker, Bryce Rodney Wright, and Kyle Darwin Kelso; seven great grandchildren; five brothers, Roger, Michael, Danny, Richard, and Jerry Shupe; and three sisters, Janice O’Driscoll, Helen Hansen, and Debby Frost. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max; son-in-law, Darwin Kelso; and three siblings, Bob, Tom, and Douglas.
