Charlene "Vera" Harwood

Charlene “Vera” White Harwood

January 18, 1940 ~ May 10, 2017

Charlene Harwood, age 77, went home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2017.  She was born January 18, 1940 in Williams, Arizona to TN and Maudie White.

Charlene married Leslie Dewayne Torres in 1956, Leslie passed away from a car accident in 1957. She later married Gerald Norman Harwood on June 17, 1958 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

She is survived by her husband, Norman Harwood of 59 years; their six children, Debbie (Monte) Cummings, Leslie “Bub” (Kerri) Torres, George (Cheryl) Harwood, Jeannie (Tom) Bush, Lena (Eric) McTee, and Willie Harwood, 14 grandkids and 24 great-grandkids.  She is preceded in death by her parents TN and Maudie White.

Charlene was employed at Hill Air Force Base until October 2000. Charlene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them.  She enjoyed watching her favorite football team Nebraska Cornhuskers with her family and friends. Charlene loved to travel with her husband to different places.  She taught her family to be strong, forgiving, loyal, compassionate, and caring towards others just as she was. Her door was always open for neighborhood kids and family members to come eat, visit, and have a place to stay.  The neighborhood kids often went to church with her and she enjoyed taking them.  She had a great sense of humor, a contagious laugh, and a sassy side to her.  She had been through it all and rarely complained.  She was loved by so many and will truly be missed.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 17th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45  a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Arabindra B. Katwal of Northern Utah Cardiovascular Associates for being compassionate and so caring during the care of our mother.
