Chares Ray Allred
Charles (Chuck) Ray Allred, 77, passed away at home on Friday, August 29. 2008 from Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on November 1, 1930 at Siminole, OK to Virgil Raymond/Ray and Mary Adell Jones Allred. When Charles was a month old the family moved to San Bernardino, CA and later to Muscoy, CA.
He married Betty Louise Fisher on June 9, 1952. They had four children: Valerie, Virgil, Allan, and Karen. They later divorced.
Charles married Norma Earl Birch on October 28, 1971. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple on June 11, 2003. They spent 14 winters in St. George.
Charles worked at Norton AFB, CA from 1951 to 1962 when he was transferred to Hill AFB, UT. He worked in the Aircraft Division until retiring in 1986.
Charles became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2002. He enjoyed being a home teacher and attending his church meetings.
Charles liked hunting, fishing, camping, competitive shooting, bowling, golf, making guns and golf clubs, and travel. He was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association; Life Member of the National Bench Rest Shooters Association; Life Member of the Utah State Rifle & Pistol Association; and had been a member of Wahsatch Shooters Association. He also had belonged to the Utah Golf Association; United States Golf Association; and Utah Seniors Golf Association. He had bowled on several leagues and he bowled a perfect 300 game during the 50th annual Men’s State Championship Tournament in 1986.
Charles is survived by his wife, Norma; sister, O. Pauline (Gerald) Comstock, Banning, CA; daughters, Valerie Jean (Richard) Saenz, San Quentin, CA, and Karen Ranae (Eddie) Henry, Edgewood, NM, and their mother Betty Allred, Colton, CA; daughter-in-law, Wendy Allred, Ogden, UT; ten grandchildren, Jason, Nicole, Karen, Ana, Richard, Antony, Virgil, Vincent, Dallas, and Dakota; and six great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and both of his sons, Virgil Ray Allred and Allan Eugene Allred.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Layton West Stake Center, 1715 W. 1600 N. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
