Charles Gloyd Cowley, Jr.

Charles Gloyd Cowley, Jr., 77, of Kaysville, Utah passed on January 3, 2024.

Charles was born August 7, 1946 in Ogden, Utah to Judge Charles and Kathryn Kay Cowley. Charles grew up, along with his sister Kathryn Ann, in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1965.

He met the love of his life, Vicki Lynne Smith, in 1968 on a blind date and they were married July 12, 1969. After they married, he attended Weber State College, moved furniture, and sold insurance. His children fondly remember stories he told them about the farm he grew up on along with his time spent as a brain surgeon and a pool shark.

Charlyn, his eldest daughter, was born in 1973 and he started working at Wasatch Service and Supply in Salt Lake City around the same time. He worked at Wasatch as the Vice President and General Manager until he retired in 2004.

His youngest daughter, Reagan, was born in 1978.

He was an avid sports fan and loved to travel to entertain clients. He was also a history buff and loved to read about the Civil War and to visit historical sites.

Charles was very proud of his family heritage and spent his life reading everything he could find about his family’s history in the LDS Church.

Charles is survived by his wife, Vicki Lynne Cowley; his daughters, Charlyn (Travis) Coates and Reagan (Anthony) Ivelia; and his grandchildren, Rowan and Grace Coates  and Cole, Evan Charles and Easton Ivelia.

He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. A luncheon will be held at 3 p.m. at the Community Century at the Lindquist’s Office Building, 3434 Washington Blvd. Interment, Friday in the Cowley family section of the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
