Chuck (aka Charlie) grew up in Shoshone and Hailey, Idaho, in the shadow of the mountains, rivers, and lakes he loved so much. He was a star running back for the Hailey High School football team. He moved to Ogden looking for work and ended up finding and marrying his sweetheart. He married Beatrice Elaine Davis of West Warren on June 8, 1951 in Ogden, Utah.
