Charles R. Harrop
After a long battle with heart disease, Charles R. Harrop passed away at his home with his loving wife Jackie.
Charles was born in his family home on Harrisville Rd. He was the fourth child of Joseph C. and Serena Roylance Harrop. Charles attended St. Joseph High School until he went into the US Navy serving in the South Pacific aboard the Maggafin A PA 199.
On August 3, 1947, Charles married his long time sweetheart Jacquelyn Mohatt. They had the blessing of celebrating 3 baby girls together, Leah, Deanne, and Janel. Charles built and loved all three of their family homes. Charles and Jackie planned, built, and created their first home in Ogden, Utah where they were the first charter members of St. James Catholic Church. He worked in Ogden for the Defense Depot. After 33 years, he retired in 1976. He was a longtime member of the D.A.V. In 1987 they moved to Huntsville, Utah where they were original members of St. Florence Catholic Church.
Charles is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jackie; daughters, Leah and Blaine Land, Deanne and Ken Coates, and Janel and Rick Conners; grandchildren, Evette and Chris Ashton, Alecia and Justin Smith, Brianne and Carson Altice, Marty, Stewart, Monica, and Casey Connors, and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe and sisters, Erma and Serena.
Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. at St. Florence Catholic Church, 6461 Highway 39, Huntsville. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. with Rosary following at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Interment, Huntsville City Cemetery.
