LAYTON a€" Charles Franklin "Frank" Hunt passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Ogden Regional Hospital on September 4, 2010 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was born on April 8, 1932 in Artesia, New Mexico to Benjamin Franklin Hunt and Ina Mae Williams. When very young, the family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas.

He graduated from Midwestern University where he received a commission in the ROTC Program. He served in the Army for 21 years that included three tours in Europe, two tours in Vietnam and served in several states in the southwestern U.S. He met Dorothy MacDonald in Gelnhausen, Germany and they were married June 24, 1958.

While living in Utah, he became involved in flying RC controlled airplanes and building and launching rockets. He also loved snowmobiling, riding his ATV, traveling in far-away places, RVing, and especially spending time at Bear Lake.

He belonged to Masonic Gateway Lodge 29 in Clearfield and the El Kalah Shrine in Salt Lake City. His favorite Masonic activities were riding his little red Klunker car in parades and being a member of the Heroes of 76.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy and sons David (Lindi) of Salt Lake City and Gregory of Manteca, California. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the personnel at Ogden Regional Hospital for the loving care he received during his illness. We also wish to thank the nurses and doctors at the hematology clinics and the Layton Rapid Response Team for their wonderful, timely compassionate service.

A celebration of his life service will be held on Saturday, September 25 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main Street.
