Charles Martin Iverson, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully Monday, July 4, 2011 from ALS at his home.

He was born March 27, 1935 in Logan, Utah the son of Dell and Velda Rapp Iverson. He graduated from Weber High and Weber College. Charles married Dian Chugg on June 1, 1955. Together they had three children, Scot, Shellie and Susan. The family lived in Plain City, North Ogden, Germany, California and Kaysville. While in Germany the family traveled extensively throughout Europe. Charles and Dian later divorced.

On May 13, 1977, Charles married Carol Wright Garner and they were later sealed in the Ogden Temple. Together they had a son, Mark Iverson. They have lived in Layton for the past 34 years. Charles worked in the computer industry; through the duration of his career he saw computers change from room-sized to laptop He finished his working career as a systems analyst and consultant for Salt Lake County, working there for over 20 years.

He was an active member of the LDS Church serving in various callings: Scouting, Young Men''s President, Bishop''s counselor, family history consultant and ward and stake clerk. Charles and Carol served in the Tucson, AZ (University of Arizona LDS Institute) mission. He loved the Tucson desert and warm winters. They spent five winters there.

Charles loved traveling, hiking, backpacking, bird watching and horse pack trips with family and friends. After retirement, he volunteered at Antelope Island and also at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Surviving are his wife Carol, Layton; sons, Scot Iverson, Granville, TX; Mark (Annie) Iverson, Bothell, WA; daughters, Shellie (Glen) Hammond, Bountiful; Susan (Scott) Fullmer, South Ogden; step-sons, Brett (Debra) Garner, So. Weber; Chris (Jennifer) Garner, Newbury Park, CA; Matthew (Karen) Garner, Mililani, HI; step-daughters, Laura (Mark) McCullin, McKinney, TX; Caryn (Loren) Somerville, Tucson, AZ; Andreana (Jeff) Butler, Kaysville; 21 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brother, Ken (Debbie) Iverson, Taylor; sister, Laura (Keith) Baker, West Jordan; and sister-in-law, Joey Iverson, Riverdale.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marlow and Jay Iverson; and one granddaughter, Angelyn Garner.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Layton Kays Creek Stake Center, 2680 E. Cherry Lane. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.
