Charles Patrick

1931 ~ 2021

He was born October 15, 1931 in Neches, Texas to Lee ad Lottie Mae Patrick.  The family moved to Jacksonville, Texas, then Houston, Texas where he grew up.  He graduated from High School and attended numerous technical and trade schools, where he acquired many skills that served him well during his entire working career.

Charles married Alma Jean Goodin, December 30, 1955.  They were later divorced in 1958.  He married Opal L. Young on December 30, 1962 in the chapel at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico.

He served two years in the U. S. Army with the 24th Infantry Regiment during the occupation of Japan.  A Korean and Vietnam Veteran, he served 21 years in the U. S. Air Force.  He was awarded numerous medals, including the Bronze Star, Vietnam Honor Medal and the Army Occupation Medal.  His last duty in action was Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he retired as a Master Sergeant in 1971.  He then worked for a private contractor at Hill Air Force Base for 23 years, as an aerospace ground equipment technician and electrician, retiring in December 1995.

Even into retirement, Charles was busy in service for others.  He joined church at an early age.  In 1998, Charles united with True Vine Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jerome Council in Kaysville, Utah, where he was an active member.

He loved sports, played basketball, baseball, and fast pitch softball during his entire military career.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and restoring old cars during the early years of his life.

Charles gave generously and regularly to over a held dozen charities, and was an avid reader.  He will be long remembered as a kind and gentle person who was loved by his family and friends.

He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Air Force Sergeants Association.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Opal L. Patrick, daughter Jacqueline R. Patrick, Layton, UT, sister Hazel Green, Houston, TX, and Ethelene Williams, Chicago, IL...  He was preceded in death by his sister Odell Asberry, two brothers, Elton Patrick and Vernell Patrick.
