Charles Clyde Skeen "Charlie"
PLAIN CITY a" Charlie Skeen passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.
He was born June 11, 1927 in Plain City, to Wilford W. and Ameriam Musgrave Skeen. He was a lifelong resident of Plain City.
Charlie entered the U.S. Navy in June of 1943 and saw action in the South Pacific aboard the USS Kaskaskia and also on a landing craft. He was among the crew that accompanied Admiral Bird to the Antarctic Region.
While on leave, he married Lorraine Pearson on October 10, 1946.
Charlie was employed at the Ogden Arsenal, Thiokol and Hill Air Force Base.
Surviving are his wife Lorraine, three children, Todd (DeEtt) Skeen, Kent (Sue) Skeen, Robyn (Corey) Sandberg, three grandchildren, Clint, Shae and Kaesey, two sisters, Jean Pledger, Joan (Jack) Young, and two sisters-in-law, Jeneal Thomas and Clara Skeen.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Jim, Don, Thayne and Russell and one sister, Louise Kelly.
In keeping with Charlie''s wishes, graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Plain City Cemetery with Bishop Richard Dredge officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
