In Loving Memory
Charles Lee "Chuck" Thornberg II
June 15, 1943-July 23, 2017
Charles Lee “Chuck” Thornberg II, passed away in his home on July 23, 2017. He was born on June 15, 1943 to his parents, Charles Lee Thornberg and Dorothy Love Dennis in Los Angeles, California. He attended Aviation High School in Redondo Beach, California. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Topeka from September 25, 1961 to January 15, 1965.
Charles then moved to Fountain Green, Utah where he studied horticulture at Snow College and University of Utah. He married Kayleen Brewer in 1973 (divorced 2000). They had six children: Charlie Thornberg (43), Katie Thornberg Nielson (42), Jenny Thornberg (32), Chris Thornberg (29), Carrey Thornberg Case (26), and Ben Thornberg (18).
Charles opened a small greenhouse in Fountain Green, “West Mountain Greenhouse”. He loved growing and nurturing plants and trees and sharing them with the locals. He was fond of the outdoors, fishing, camping and photography. He had a deep love for sailing and the Ocean.
Charles moved to Bountiful, Utah in April of 2000, where he worked for Build Inc. doing construction, crane rigging and pile driving. After retiring, he worked part time for Meals on Wheels and loved to spend time at the Golden Years Senior Activity Center.
Charles will be missed for his goofy humor and stubborn ways. His love for his children and grandchildren will not be forgotten. To the Ocean his ashes will go where he can “sail on forever.”
Traditional funeral services will not be held. A private memorial will be held at a later date chosen by the family.
