Charlie Duran

July 6, 1943 — June 7, 2023

 

Jesus Carlos (Charlie) Duran passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

 

Charlie was born July 6, 1943 in Antonito, Colorado. He married the love of his life and his Sunshine, Mary Barela, on July 10, 1961. Charlie was a loving and devoted husband, extraordinary father, incredible grandfather, and kind friend to everyone.                      

 

Charlie is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Mary, and their six children, Charlie Duran, Glenn (Raquel) Duran, Phyllis Duran, Jackie (Mike) Masters, Mazie (Ray) Watters, and Tami (Sean) Costello. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Bill Duran and Roger Duran, and sister Annabelle Gallegos, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Charlie was a devout member of the Catholic Church.

 

Charlie is proceeded in death by parents, Fermin and Bertha Duran, brother Leroy Duran, great grandson Lucah Duran, and daughter-in-law Kathy Duran.

 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 Chapel Street, Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit family Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.  A vigil with Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m.

 

The Duran family would like to thank the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the Huntsman Farmington Infusion Center and their wonderful nurses for all the loving care and friendships they provided during the past 10 years. "I fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith."  Rest in paradise, you fought a courageous and valiant fight. We love you so much!
