It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Charlie Hodgson announces that their beloved and precious son and brother was taken home to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of July 29, 2024, after being involved in a tragic and fatal accident in Ogden, Utah.
Charlie was here with us for 31 years and is now in heaven with his grandfather, Jim “Popper” Hodgson; his adopted grandpa, Papa John Trevillian; and his beloved friends, John Shipley and Debbie Cheben. He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Dave and Wendy Hodgson; his sister, Candice Hodgson; and his brother, Christopher Hodgson of Eden, Utah; his grandparents, Gayle Hodgson of Somerset, Ohio; Linda Smith of Panama City, Florida; and Godfrey Smith of Cregneash, Isle of Man.
Charlie had a passion for helping others. He went on several mission trips including to the Amazon in Brazil and served six months in Thailand with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention working with the deaf population of Bangkok. Charlie served his community working for the Division of Juvenile Justice Services as a Youth Development Specialist at the Mill Creek Youth Center in Ogden, Utah.
Charlie was a graduate of Florida State University, but his allegiance was always as a devoted Ohio State Buckeye fan. He loved all sports - especially football - and enjoyed working out at the gym with his friends, hiking, biking, travelling, and spending time with his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Spring Hills Community Church in Somerset, Ohio where family and friends will be gathering from all over the world. This will be followed by a picnic at Charlie’s favorite place and final resting place, his grandmother’s farm “Vision Acres” in Somerset, Ohio. Any who are able are more than welcome to attend.
Please make any charitable donations in Charlie’s memory to the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind Education Foundation, 742 Harrison Blvd, Ogden, Utah 84404 - https://usdbfoundation.org/give/
