Charlie M. Duran, 61, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 17th, 2023.
Charlie was born April 15th, 1962 in Alamosa, Colorado to Jesus Carlos (Charlie) and Mary Duran. He was the eldest of 6 children; he had 1 brother and 4 sisters. The Duran family later moved to Utah where Charlie graduated from Clearfield High School in 1980.
Charlie loved the outdoors. He especially loved to fish. Some of his greatest memories are of fly fishing in Montana. He took great pride in his yard and worked hard to keep it pristine. He liked working with his hands and always had a project or two. Charlie also loved sports, especially football. He admired Dan Marino and always rooted for the Dolphins. He spent many years as a youth football coach and enjoyed teaching the game. He also enjoyed coaching his oldest daughter’s softball team, teaching his son to trap shoot, and cheering on his youngest daughter as she cheered for her high school. He loved action movies, The Bee Gees, Ogden Pizzeria, and a good competitive game of Connect 4.
Charlie worked for Wonderbread where he met Penny Porter, who he later married and shared 3 kids with. After Wonderbread, he worked for DentPro for 20 years where he met some amazing people who became lifetime friends and family. He later worked for Hill Air Force Base where he was able to work on aircraft, which he really enjoyed. There, he continued to make lasting friendships with people he truly loved.
Charlie was a loving father, grandpa, brother, son, and friend.
He is survived by his children, Ashlee Thomas (Kelly Newman), Chaz Duran, and April (Blake) Jenkins. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Parker Thomas and Jett, Scarlett, Emmett, and Levett Jenkins, his mother, Mary, and siblings Glenn, Phyllis, Jackie, Mazie, and Tami, as well as many in laws and nieces and nephews.
Charlie is proceeded in death by his father, Charlie Sr., sister-in-law Kathy Duran, and beloved dog, Sabastian.
We will miss his life lessons, teasing personality and jokes, big belly laugh, wide smile, getting the movie quote texts, and “love you”’s before bed.
