He served in the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. He was a hair stylist and a woodcarver by trade. His passion and greatest enjoyment came from woodcarving. His carving took him to different parts of the country. Charlie worked and retired from HAFB. Charlie was a free spirit and enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved the ocean, the outdoors and spending weekends in Wendover. On August 27, 2009 he married his long-time companion and friend Willi S. Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Lt. Col Val Nelson. He is survived by his wife Willi, a son Charles Andrew Nelson, step-son Steve (Amber) Ulibarri, step-daughter Julie Beauoleil, brother Alan (Mary) Nelson, St. George; sister Jennie (Brent) McQueen, Twin Falls, ID; several nephews, nieces and in-laws. He will be missed by all. When I’m Gone When I come to the end of my journey And I travel my last weary mile, Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned And only remember the smile. Forget unkind words I have spoken; Remember some good I have done. Forget that I ever had heartache. And remember I’ve had loads of fun. Forget that I’ve stumbled and blundered And sometimes fell by the way. Remember I have fought some hard battles And won, ere the close of the day. Then forget to grieve for my going. I would not have you sad for a day, But in summer just gather some flowers And remember the place where I lay, And come in the shade of evening, When the sun paints the sky in the west, Stand for a few moments beside me And remember only my best. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Road where military honors will be accorded. Funeral directors, Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
