Charlie Franklin Pharr
Charlie Franklin Pharr, passed away on December 6, 2017 in his sleep of natural causes at the George E. Whalen Ogden Veteran’s Home. He was born on the 26th of April, 1930 in Statesville North Carolina, Iredell County. He was 87 years old.
Charlie served in the Army and earned a purple heart during the Korean War. He enlisted in the Air Force, served during the Vietnam War and retired in 1971. He then worked at Hill Air Force Base as a radar technician. He was married May 27, 1956 to Edith Marie Hermes in Arapahoe, Nebraska. After several duty stations, they settled in Layton, Utah. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a life member of DAV, VFW, Purple Heart and Chosin Few. He enjoyed golfing and his family.
Surviving are his wife, Edith M. Pharr; daughter, Dawn M. Cunningham (David); granddaughter, Savannah D. Stokes (Ty); and great-grandchild, Symphony M. Stokes. He was preceded in death by his mother, brother, and his brother’s family.
Services will be held Tuesday December 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3329 Harrison Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit with family from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
