Charlie Eugene Rodarte

On Wednesday, October 27, 2010, Charlie E. Rodarte was called home by his Lord, Jesus Christ at the age of 77.

Charlie was born January 9, 1933 to Charlie and Emma Rodarte, in Delta, CO. He moved to Utah at the age of 11. He graduated from Davis High School.

He was married to Beatrice Chavez in 1953 at St. Rose of Lima. They have three children: Eddie (Lorrie Keem) Rodarte of Hooper; Ronald Rodarte of Layton; and Debra (Jim Smith) Rodarte of Chandler, AZ; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He also has one brother, Ben Rodarte of CO; and one sister, Ruby Chaves of CA.

Charlie was a member of the International Union of Bricklayer and Allied Crafts. He received his 50 year pin in 2004. During his career, he was the business manager for the UT/WY B.A.C. Locals, he worked as an instructor for International Masonry Institute, a joint labor management trust with the B.A.C. Charlie also spent five years in El Salvador establishing a trowel trades program with IMI, for the Salvadorian government. He finished his career as a Regional Director for IMI.

Charlie was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed spending time in his yard, working on home remodeling projects, and watching old westerns.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie; his mother, Emma; two brothers, Mike and Joey Rodarte; three sisters, Caroline Martinez, Alavine Chacon, and Dolores Valahovic; and one granddaughter, Gabrielle Smith.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 So. Chapel Street, Layton. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Prayer service 7 p.m. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
