Charlotte LaFaye Evans Burgin was born on March 15, 1937, in Beaver, Utah the daughter of Morris LeRoy and Charlotte Muir Hooper. She passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield, Utah. She grew up in Washington Terrace and attended Weber High School.
Charlotte married Howard Thomas Evans on November 16, 1953, in Coalville, Utah. He passed away in 1983. She later married Richard Burgin on July 17, 1985 in Layton, Utah.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in Primary and Relief Society presidencies. She worked in the Ogden Temple alongside her Husband Richard in the Baptistry.
Charlotte was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a warm and loving home. She is survived by her children, Brent Thomas Evans, Debra LaFaye Tidwell, and Jeanie Johanson, who carry forth the values of love and kindness that she instilled in them. Her strength and spirit will continue to resonate through them.
She had a passion for gardening and took great joy in nurturing plants and flowers to bloom. She loved to travel, dance, engage in crafts, and express herself through woodworking. Each hobby brought her immense joy and served as a means to connect with family and friends, creating lasting memories over the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s Howard Thomas Evans and Richard Burgin, her daughter Sherie Ann Pettit, and her beloved sons-in-law, Mike Tidwell and Steven Ralph Johanson. Additionally, she mourned the loss of two precious granddaughters, Winda Lee Tidwell and Cassie Michell Tidwell. Each loss carved deep spaces in her heart, yet she bore these sorrows with grace, always managing to uplift others through her unwavering spirit.
Graveside services will be held Thursday May 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Rd., Kaysville, Utah. Family and friends may visit Wednesday April 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah prior to the graveside service.
We remember the beautiful legacy she leaves behind—a legacy defined by love, compassion, and the joyous moments shared with family and friends. She may be gone from our sight, but her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
