The Angel Wears Prada! On June 23, 1988, a beautiful light entered the world and for almost 34 years we were blessed with an angel among us.
On May 7, 2022, Chelsea Marie Petersen departed her Earthly home and was welcomed back to the loving embrace of our Father in Heaven. Free from pain for the first time in over a decade. Chels is listening to Dashboard Confessional and Hobo Johnson, rewatching Tangled for the millionth time, Court TV, (#freejohnnny), Door Dashing, and eating to her hearts content (tamales with husks on and Chinese food, of course), snuggling with Caesar (don’t tell Millie), driving a Prius, reading anything by P.C. Cast, and waiting to shop on Heaven’s Rodeo Drive with the first Kardashian to join her (Louis Vuitton In hand, of course).
Chels’ heaven is purple, designer everything, sleep masks are required and 2 a.m. talks are a must. And who knows, maybe there actually is anti-artica near a really cold Cuba where Micah will play soccer and Maili will dance. No sun, no beach, no sand—is all good.
Not only free from immense pain, Chels is free from touching other’s feet, hardwood floors, Kim Jong-Un flags, Micah’s bets, and looking at her dad’s gray hair. Heck, she can now leave that fridge door open as long as she wants and is never told “go to bed” again! She finally has (heavenly) influence over what Maili can and cannot wear.
A 14-year battle with Gastroparesis, deprived Chelsea of so much in life. However, she considers her children her greatest gifts, and her parents her greatest blessings. Her voice, piano skills, unconditional love, ability to listen, desire to learn, and talent as an accomplished dancer is blessing the lives of many in the beautiful afterlife, she knows exists.
Countless memories help fill the void in our hearts and remind us of the beautiful daughter, mother, sister, niece, cousin, and friend we’ve lost. We find solace in her contribution to the medical community throughout the state of Utah and nation. Her greatest desire is a cure for this terrible disease, that took her from us at such a
young age.
Chelsea lives on through her children, Micah and Maili. She is survived by her parents, Gary and Sherri Petersen, Syracuse, Utah; brothers, Zachary (Alyson) Petersen, South Jordan, Utah, and Tye (April) Petersen, West Haven, Utah; and grandparents, Gary and Ann Petersen, Woods Cross, Utah, and Gary and Marie Noll, Springville, Utah. She is also survived by too many aunts, uncles, and cousins to count.
