ROY - Surrounded by the love of her family, our loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, Cherie Hoerman was embraced into the loving arms of her eternal companion, Edward on October 29, 2011, after a courageous battle with Breast Cancer and Alzheimer''s Disease.
Cherie was born on Aug 11, 1933 in Escalante, UT to the late, Jesse Owen and Arthella Mitchell Spencer, she is the 3rd of 6 children that all survive her... Arta (Joe) Lamb, Gary (Diane) Spencer, Rollo (Sylvia) Spencer, Rodney (Maureen) Spencer and Stephen (Mary) Spencer.
Ed and Cherie had the "Notebook" love story; they met while she was an instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio and danced their whole life together. They were married on June 2, 1956 and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City temple on Aug 28, 1957. They had such an amazing love, that everyone that met them saw it. They traveled though out the states in the military meeting many friends along the way... everyone that met Cherie loved her, she had the biggest heart and the most amazing smile, even as her disease took over her, she still made an impact on those she met.
Cherie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and lived her life honorably and served many positions in the church, including Relief Society President, Young Women''s Leader and served an LDS mission to Minneapolis, Minnesota with Edward. She loved to travel, quilt, do puzzles, paint, bake her famous pies and fudge during the holidays and most of she loved to read.
She lived for her children, Dave (Jenni) Hoerman, Lori (Mark) Opheikens, Lynette (Navor) Bustos... .. 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. There was nothing more important to her than them, her eyes lit up every time she saw them.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward, grandson, Joshua Castillo, great- granddaughter, Oakley Castillo and her parents, Jesse and Arthella Spencer.
As an Air Force wife, Mom had amazing strength in life and was an inspiration to so many people. Even in this last year of your life when both of her diseases had taken over her, she still made such an impact on so many people. All of the seniors and volunteers at Respite, you loved spending time with them and "meeting" them all over again each week. Being active in the Relay for Life walks and the Alzheimer meetings, they all admired your strength and your fight for life.
We as a family would like to thank her "special angel" Paula, for taking her to Respite each week, LaDee for taking her to church ever week and her loving nurses, Lorraine and Tammy, and her aide, Janelle, Bruce, Miller and the rest of the staff at Alpine Hospice for their love and compassion through out the last year.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquists Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
