Cherie Ruth Stirling

Cherie Ruth Stirling, 80, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017.

Cherie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Edgar Walter, Sr. and Ruth Anona Showell Hansen.

On December 17, 1954, she married Bobby Raymond Stirling, Sr. in Salt Lake City. Divorced in 1974. She went to East High School and graduated West High School, SLC and attended Stevens Henagar and Weber State College.

She worked at the Home Builder Assn (Salt Lake City and Ogden), Lew Costley & Cottrell Accounting, Navy Support Depot, Internal Revenue Service Accounting Technician and Computer Specialist at Hill AFB, Utah, retiring in 1998.

She was a member of the LDS Church.

She volunteered at the Senior Health Clinic, Davis Hospital and RSVP. Loved to sew, crochet and knit for family members and friends. Made and donated Afghans to Project Linus who supplied them to sick children in hospitals. Loved to watch tennis and basketball.

Cherie is survived by daughters, Laura (Randy) Udy, LuAnne (Doug) Ander, ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and special cousins – Rick Hansen, Danny Hansen, Hal Hansen and Kathy Campbell, Karen Sears, daughter-in law. Preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband Clo and Dick Bell, son, Bobby Stirling Jr., daughter Kay (Bill) Doutre, brother, Edgar W. Hansen, Jr (Budd), special uncle, Vern Hansen (Dad #2), and special aunt, Betty Hansen (Mom #2).

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association and /or Cancer Society.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Roy City Cemetery, 5200 South 2300 West.
