Cherilyn Jane Lundwall
December 14, 1946 ~ July 19, 2022
Cherilyn Jane Lundwall, 75, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at her home. She was born December 14, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Kirk M. and Lillian G. Davis Lundwall. As an infant, she moved with her family to Ogden, Utah, where she was reared. She attended Ogden City Public Schools graduating from Ogden High School in 1965. She attended Brigham Young University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, earning bachelors in 1972 and masters in 1974 degrees in speech-language pathology. She was a life member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She worked as a speech pathologist at McKay-Dee Hospital, Utah Valley Hospital, Brigham Young University Communicative Disorders Clinic, and Weber County School District.
Central to Cherilyn’s life was her striving to live the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In her youth, Cherilyn diligently sought after and received from the Lord a witness and a testimony of the truthfulness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, which guided her throughout her mortal life. As a lifelong active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served a fulltime mission to Colorado-New Mexico, and in many other callings within the Church including Young Womens President, Relief Society teacher, Ward Music Chairman and Music Director, and a member missionary and temple patron.
Cherilyn enjoyed hiking, backpacking, and river running in the desert canyons of the Southwest. The Grand Canyon in Arizona was one of her favorite places on the earth, and it was in this beautiful canyon that she enjoyed a whitewater river trip on the Colorado River, as well as two rim to rim hiking and backpacking adventures. It was through preparing for then experiencing these and many other adventures in God’s natural creations on the earth that she learned and acquired many skills, life lessons, and memories useful in enriching, expanding, and balancing her life. Cherilyn also loved music and fine arts, reading, poetry and the spoken word, cooking and sewing, and she was interested in animals including parrots and other hook bill birds and dogs.
Of great importance to Cherilyn were her relationships with people. She had many wonderful friends who helped her to negotiate and overcome the obstacles and challenges in her life. She especially enjoyed associating with these good friends and with loved ones, as she sought to serve and comfort them.
Surviving are one brother and one sister, Neal (Mary) Lundwall, Ridgecrest, CA; and Noreen (George) Ward, Roy, UT; and multiple nephews and nieces and grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
