Cheryl Spangler

November 4, 1966 — April 23, 2018

Cheryl Anne Hultgren Spangler, 51, passed away suddenly in her home on Monday April  23rd , 2018. Cheryl was born the middle of three daughters to David Carl Hultgren and Judy Kay Sewell Hultgren on November 4th , 1966 at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

Cheryl was born after a complicated delivery that would leave her facing challenges associated to learning delays for the remainder of her life. Yet, she never let those issues stop her from achieving her goals and becoming a vocal advocate for epilepsy awareness and special needs. Cheryl graduated from Roy High School in 1985 and was a long time employee at Deseret Industries in Ogden and later the ZCMI Tiffin Room.

Cheryl was called to serve an LDS mission to Santa Rosa California where she served with honor until a back injury sent her home for treatment. Once treatment was completed, she returned to the Las Vegas mission field but was not able to finish her calling. Not one to stagnate, and fulfilling her passion for singing, Cheryl immediately joined her ward Choir and volunteered her time to the Special Needs Mutual in Layton assisting in many roadshows.

Cheryl attended Weber State University for one semester until her learning delays became a stumbling block for her professors. She then transferred to the ATC where she was one summer course shy of completing her degree when she decided to follow a different path.

Cheryl married the love of her life, Scot Spangler, in the Logan LDS Temple, July 28th , 2004, and together they made their home in Ogden, Utah. They were later divorced. Cheryl was an avid needlepoint enthusiast, and could always be found with a project in her large bag. When Cheryl would become aware of a new baby the parents were assured a blanket would be made with their child’s date of birth and name.

Her joy in singing was infectious, if not unconventional but lovely all the same. Cheryl sang with her entire heart and soul and her voice will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her father, David Carl Hultgren and survived by her mother, 2 sisters, 2 brother-in- laws, 4 nieces, 4 nephews and 6 grand nieces and nephews whom she loved and spoiled routinely.

The family invites you to join them in celebrating her life at Lindquist Mortuary in Roy, Utah at a viewing on Sunday, April 29th 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. and another viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 30th prior to her service at 11:00 a.m.
