Cheryl Lea Wagstaff
January 25, 1967 ~ July 5, 2014
Our beautiful daughter, sister, wife, Cheryl Lea Wagstaff, 47, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 in Roy, Utah. She is finally at peace, having lost her long, valiant and courageous battle with throat cancer. She fought hard to stay but it was time for a well-deserved rest.
She was born January 25, 1967 in Ogden, Utah to Mark M. Wagstaff and Shauna Curtis.
On November 30, 2010, Cheryl married Blaine Evan Anderson in Ogden, Utah.
She graduated from Roy High School in 1985. After graduation, she joined the US Air Force active duty and served from 1985 – 1989. She continued to serve as an AF reservist as well as a civilian in Okinawa, Japan; Washington DC working for the Surgeon General (she was there during 9-11 and felt the impact of the plane hitting the Pentagon thinking it was an earthquake); Colorado Springs working for The Air Force Academy and Hill AFB, Utah working in Configuration Management.
Cheryl’s strong, sweet, kind and gentle spirit with a tenacity for life and deep love for family and friends impacted everyone who knew her. She was always more concerned about what she could do for others than what she needed. She was generous to a fault and never hesitated to give of herself for those she loved most.
She enjoyed reading, camping outdoors, scuba diving, watching her favorite soap operas and spending time with family, especially her nieces and nephews who knew they could always count on her to make them feel special and loved. She had a very close bond with her niece Brandi, she loved her like a daughter and Brandi loved her like a mother. She loved animals, most of all her two dogs Kiska and Chili.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Blaine Anderson; parents, Mark M. Wagstaff and Shauna Curtis; one sister, Gina (Steve) Patterson; three brothers, Shawn (Julie) Wagstaff, Scott (Natalie) Wagstaff, Ryan Wagstaff; three nieces, five nephews, one great-nephew and one great-niece. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents.
As a family we offer our heart-felt thanks to Gentiva Hospice and their staff who took such amazing care of her. Special thanks to Tonya and Tiffany who went the extra mile to comfort and care for Cheryl.
At Cheryl’s request a private graveside service was held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Roy City Cemetery.
