Chester Loyd Nelson, 71, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, from congestive heart failure. Loyd was born May 8, 1939 in Vernal, Utah to Chester B. Nelson and Jana Belle Loyd. He attended Weber and Bountiful High Schools. He was a champion wrestler at Weber High.
In 1957, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and served until 1961, as a jet engine mechanic.
On July 3, 1959, Loyd married Shirley Williams in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He loved surveying and was partner with his good friend Cindy Segriff in Construction and Land Surveys of Ogden, until his retirement in 2001.
Loyd loved four-wheeling and hunting with his family and friends in and around Utah, especially following and mapping the Great Western Trail with his many GPS''s. He shared many fun times with his life long friend, Roger.
Loyd is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, Brian (Dixie) and Blaine (Dianne), all of Clinton; five grandchildren, Brett, Kevin, Mitchell, Nicole and Terry. Also surviving are his siblings, Dave, Carol, Linda, Dale, Dean, Steve, Ron, Dennis, Marilyn and Carolyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Loyd requested no formal funeral services. A private family viewing will be held Sunday, November 28th.
Arrangements and cremation entrusted to Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary and Lindquist''s Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Loyd''s name may be sent to the American Heart Association, 144 S. 500 E, SLC, UT 84102.
