Chris Marie Bennett

The world is somehow less today.  Thoughts, words and senses have become mercifully dulled and rearranged.  For now, we are left behind.  Our beautiful Chris, 57, left our arms and flew forward, leaving us with full hearts and grateful spirits that we were fortunate to share our lives with this beautiful person.  As in Chris’ life, her final moments were shared in the loving embrace of her family.

As we celebrate Chris’ life, we honor her loyalty and dedication to her family and friends. Chris was both mother and caregiver, not only for her immediate family, but also for all of her children’s friends.  Her three lucky children, Brian, Kelly and Tyler experienced the perfect mixture of love, compassion, selflessness and unconditional support that exemplified Chris.  Scores of their friends consider Chris and Dale to be their second parents.  At family and friend gatherings, refreshments appeared from what seemed to be a limitless source as Chris and her husband and companion for 35 years displayed support and love for their children that was the hallmark of the Bennett family.

Chris took her responsibilities as wife and mother seriously and made certain that her family felt loved and secure.  Her home was a place where togetherness and love are not only apparent, but could be felt through her attention to detail in every aspect of her life.  When Brian participated in sports, Chris was the ultimate “team” mom.  As Tyler climbed the competitive ladder of race Kart driving, Chris followed his career through many states and many difficult trials. While beautiful Kelly developed her career, Chris supported her through every step of her education.

Childhood days for Chris were simple and uncluttered in Moline, Illinois where she was born on May 29, 1958 to Charles and Virginia Hanna.  Her cherished childhood friend, Suzie Schroeder still lives in the house next door to Chris’ family home in Moline.  Her love for music and the piano were rewarded, when she met and fell in love with her piano instructor, Dale Bennett, who at the time was working his way through Chiropractic College, at Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa.  She considered Dale her ultimate treasure.

Chris is preceded in death by her parents, Charles (Chuck) and Virginia (Ginny) Hanna.   She is survived by her beloved husband Dale James Bennett.  Brothers; Mike Hanna, Mark Hanna and Gary Pittman.  Children; Brian Dale, Kelly Marie, Tyler James and stepdaughter; Lindsay Bennett.
