On Saturday, August 10, 2013, Christie Page Phippen fulfilled her earthly calling and returned to her Heavenly Father where she was warmly greeted by loved ones and friends.
Mom was born May 15, 1920 in Ogden Valley in her grandfather Bingham''s home. Her parents were Mary Lucinda Bingham and John Henry Page. She lived in Honeyville and Huntsville where she attended school. She graduated from Weber High School in 1938. In 1943, she enlisted in the Women''s Army Corp (WACS). She saw service in New Guinea and the Philippines. She was always very proud of being a WWII Vet.
She married Melvin Earl Phippen on September 18, 1946 in Evanston, Wyoming. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1957, on her birthday. Melvin preceded her in death November 12, 1979. She lived in Bountiful, Logan, River Heights, Wellsville and Ogden. After selling her Ogden home she lived with her daughter, Joan in Pleasant View and most recently she resided at the Pioneer Care Center in Brigham City and the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden.
Mom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She taught Blazer scouts for 13 years. She served for a short time in the Texas Antonio Mission. She enjoyed temple attendance and had the privilege of attending 17 different temples during her lifetime.
In her early married years Mom enjoyed raising and showing horses with our dad, Melvin. She grew many beautiful and productive vegetable gardens. She worked in the central supply department of McKay-Dee Hospital for 12 years. She enjoyed attending any activities her children and grandchildren were involved in and was proud of them all. Her grandchildren knew they had a friend in her. She was an avid baseball and basketball fan and enjoyed watching these sports on TV. Christie is survived by two sons and five daughters, Earl F. (Marie) Phippen, Chubbuck, ID; Joan (Gary) Lindley, Pleasant View; Gaylene P. (Rodney) Wright, Tremonton; David Phippen, Hyrum; Cora McKinney, Ogden; Cathy (Jeff) Severe, Colorado Springs, CO; Julie Ball, Salt Lake City; 34 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and four more on the way. She is also survived by Shirley Phippen Sealy, Ruth Phippen Malmberg, McKay and Joyce Phippen, and Claudia Phippen King, children of Dad''s "first crop".
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Earl, two sisters, two daughters, and one son.
