Christopher M. Hurst

Christopher M Hurst, 51, passed away on January 8, 2024, due to complications from liver disease. He was born May 25, 1972, in Ogden, Utah to David B. and Marsha Passey Hurst and was a lifelong resident of Ogden.

He attended Bonneville High School and earned his GED in 2010. He worked in the home construction and food service industries, and he spent several years travelling in the Western States installing and maintaining stadium seating systems. Chris enjoyed cooking and decided to pursue his interest at the Ogden-Weber Technical College, graduating from the Culinary Arts program in 2017. After graduating he stayed on at "OTech," helping many more students learn to cook. Chris found his time at OTech to be very rewarding and developed important friendships with his colleagues there. 

Chris enjoyed being around people, and he had an open, genuine personality that ensured that people liked being around Chris. He met people from all walks of life that often became good friends, and his friends and family were frequently touched by his thoughtfulness. 

Chris was blessed with a large extended family and grew up spending time with his cousins on camping vacations and at the large family cabin on the shores of Bear Lake.  As an adult he was pleased to be able to share relaxing times at this cabin with his friends. 

He loved dogs and was always accompanied by one or two devoted companions, including several rescued animals with outsized personalities. 

Chris is survived by his mother, Marsha; brother, Peter; and his dog, Brownie. He was preceded in death by his father, David.

The family would like to thank the many excellent doctors, nurses, and staff that provided exceptional care throughout the course of his illness. 

In accordance with Chris's wishes, a brief service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Private family interment will be held at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to a charity of your choice.
