Christopher P. Lopez
CLEARFIELD a" Christopher P. Lopez, 88, returned to his Heavenly Father and family on Wednesday, February 25, 2009.
Cristobal Petronilo Lopez was born October 8, 1920 in Ortiz, Colorado, to Jose Timoteo and Francesica G. Lopez, Sr.
He''s the Patriarch of the Lopez family. Godfather of many nieces and nephews and we will miss him dearly.
He was reared and educated in Colorado; he graduated from LaJara High School Class of 1940.
Chris spent 23 years in active duty with the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He served his country in WW II. He retired as a T-Sergeant in 1956. He was a D-Day Veteran at Normandy in the 2nd Infantry Division advancing into Germany at wars end.
He was also a member of the Clearfield American Legion and the Layton V.F.W.
He was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed being with his family, golfing, traveling, hunting and serving the Lord. He had many friends and enjoyed spending time at the Heritage Senior Citizens Center, along with many trips to Wendover.
Chris is survived by his two brothers, Edward (Leticia) Lopez, Newhall, CA; Ubaldo (Genevieve) Lopez, Roseville, CA; three sisters, Rose Lopez Archuleta, Boise, ID; Leonila Lopez Saenz, Lakewood, Co; Loretta (Bob) Lopez Williams, Rogers, AR.
Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Timoteo Lopez, Jr, Lawrence Lopez; sister Mary Jane Tacley; brothers-in-laws, Joe Saenz, Don Archuleta, Alfonso Mascaranez, and Joe Tacley.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 9 a.m. at the Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 South Chapel Street, Layton. Friends and family may call Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Rosary will be at 7 p.m.
Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
