Clair J. Judkins

Clair J. Judkins, 63, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 8, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and friends, at Ogden Regional Medical Center.

He was born November 5, 1949, at the old McKay Hospital in Ogden, Utah, to Helen Dean Judkins and Charles L. "Leo" Judkins. He was raised in Warren and graduated from Weber High School in 1968.

In 1970, Clair married Melanie Lynne McGuire. They were married 24 years and raised two remarkable sons before they divorced. After an extended relationship, he married Dina L. George and they later divorced.

He worked for Great Salt Lake Mineral for roughly six years until he hired on with Rockwell International, which was later acquired by the Boeing Company. In May of 2012, he retired after 35 years of employment.

Clair enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends. He was a hardworking, family man with a heart of gold and a keen sense of humor. He was a jack of all trades who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it and he made friends much more easily than he picked out a pair of new boots. He had a great personality and always had a warm greeting for everyone. In his younger years, he loved performing as a rodeo clown. He always produced a banner crop from his garden, which he proudly shared with anyone. He was a man with great integrity and a fierce loyalty to family, friends and co-workers. He was a great cook. He loved gun sports, sunrises, sunsets and his dog, Lacey. He was quick to lend a helping hand and considered his neighbors part of his family. His grandkids were the light of his life and he loved them with all of his heart. He spoke to his mom every morning on the phone and they enjoyed reflecting about the past and solving the world''s problems.

Clair is survived by his mother, Helen Dean Judkins; three siblings, Rex Stockton (Lee) Judkins, Vickie (Mike) Miller, Ed (Sharon) Judkins; three sons, Troy J. (Denise) Judkins, Ryan J. (Staci) Judkins, Tyson Lyn (Kristi) Mayfield; four grandsons, Braxton K. Bingham, Carson Jay Bingham, Brogan Michael Judkins, Rowdy J. Judkins; four granddaughters, Rylee Lynne Judkins, Brinley May Criddle, Lauren Nicole Criddle, Rhylee Hazel Ann Mayfield, and a granddaughter due in December 2013, Rhegan Adelyn Mayfield. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles L. Judkins. He will be truly missed everyday by all of his loved ones. We celebrate the time we were blessed to know his love. His body wore out before its time, caring for those he loved; we think there must have been an urgent need for a handy-man in Heaven.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 12th at 3 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends prior to the services, Saturday from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
