Clara R. Garcia
We celebrate with joy the life of our dear Mother and Center of our Universe, Clara, and with sadness announce her passing on Monday, May 28, 2012.
Mom was born on April 28, 1922 in Dolores, Colorado to J. Victor Gonzales & Prudencia Archibeque. She had 3 brothers, Avedon, Frank and Tommy, all of whom preceded her in death.
She married Dan J. Garcia, also of Dolores, on September 10, 1938 in Mancos, Colorado. They raised eight children, Ted (who died at 2), Theodore Daniel, who died in 2008. Still living are children: David (Gunilla), Carlotta (Robert Ruiz), Victoria, Andrew (Diane), Priscilla, and Bill (Elena). She had 9 grandchildren: Patrik, Andrea, Angelina, Ashlee, Julie, Eric, Miguel, Tomas and Alex and 11 great grandchildren.
Our Mother was a “pistol” who challenged her children to live life to the fullest as she did through the celebration of her 90th year. Mom fully believed in Education demonstrating such to her children by graduating from High School the same year as her oldest son. She loved to travel and travelled to Europe with Dad, travelled with her two grandsons to China, later, to Hawaii with her daughters, and took numerous road trips with her children and grandchildren. She was also a competitive bowler until she reached 85 years. After that, she went to intellectual competition and to the very end, she used her I-Pad to handily defeat her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in Words with Friends; she also kicked butt with Angry Birds! She laughed and made us laugh; she loved with all her heart and made sure we all loved each other with the same gusto. It was our privilege be her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was so proud of all of us. We are all proud of her!
And finally, a great Thank You to her good Doctors as well as the health care providers from Care Source who helped extend the time we had with her.
