Clarence L. Barrow
OGDEN a" After an eight year struggle with quadriplegia resulting from an automobile accident, Clarence Lesley Barrow, 75, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
He was born October 6, 1931, to Ida White and Thomas William Barrow in West Warren, Utah. He spent his childhood there until the family moved to Ogden. He graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1949. He served an LDS Mission in the East Central States. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served with the U.S. Army. On June 6, 1958, he married Susan Taylor Ridges in the Salt Lake Temple and have enjoyed 49 wonderful years together.
Clare attended Weber State College and received his BS in Botany and Zoology from BYU and a Masters in Education from the University of Utah. He taught Biology for 14 years and was the Media Director for 20 years at Central Middle School.
He was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in three Bishoprics, many ward and stake callings, and was a faithful Home Teacher.
Clare was blessed with a beautiful tenor voice and shared his musical talents while being accompanied by his wife. He enjoyed singing at church services, weddings, funerals and various events. He was a member of the Lost Chords, a group of his friends that entertained around the area. Following his retirement, he served as the President and enjoyed traveling with the Good Sam Weber Waffies.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, working, gardening, camping, singing and cooking. Many family reunions came about and continue today from his efforts. Those who met him saw his zest for life and were enveloped by his joyful personality and infectious smile.
He is survived by his wife Susan, three brothers, Cecil Barrow, Kenneth (Shirley) Barrow, Floyd (Marvel) Barrow; five children, Cyndi (Randy) Halley, West Point; Janet (Kirk) Rawson, Layton; Craig R. (Kate) Barrow, Spokane, WA; Nancy (Larry) Collinwood, South Ogden; and Joel (Lisa) Barrow, Layton. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters; Jesse T. (Reva), Albert C. (Maye), James E. (Mary), LaVern W. (Ruth), Bertha (Fred) Rice, Kleal F. (Lorraine) Barrow, Glenda B. Turner Hellewell, OrJean Barrow, and sister-in-law, Clara (Cecil) Barrow.
We will miss him greatly but we know he is singing and walking once again while he enjoys the reunion with his parents and siblings.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Spring Canyon Ward Chapel, 6350 Combe Road, with Bishop Kenneth Borchert officiating.
Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the Ward Chapel 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Warren Cemetery.
