Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather, Clarence Joseph Curtis (Joe) passed away on October 20, 2024, at the age of 93.
Joe was born on January 26, 1931, in Moroni, Utah to Clarence Lars Curtis and Gladys Cloward Curtis. He married Janette Rowe Curtis on October 28, 1952, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. They were later sealed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden Utah Temple. They were blessed with four daughters.
Joe was proud to have served his country during the Korean War. He served in the Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego, California. He continued to serve his country throughout his career in technical services and as an Equipment Specialist at HAFB.
Joe worked various jobs as he attended electronics classes. Following Joe’s military service, the family resided in Moroni, Utah, Dugway, Utah, American Fork, Utah, and Salt Lake City, Utah. Upon completing his education, he moved his family to Sunset, Utah where he was employed at HAFB from 1958 through his retirement, working his way up into management. Joe received numerous commendations for his work at HAFB. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working part-time at the Oakridge Country Club as a groundskeeper.
Joe was a loving husband and father. While his girls were young, they didn’t miss an opportunity to get a hug or sit on his knee. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family in the outdoors. If he wasn’t taking his family camping, he took them boating and waterskiing, snowmobiling or fishing. It was quite a chore for him to keep all those fishing poles baited and in the water. He always managed to catch enough fish for a night’s meal. Bear Lake, Flaming Gorge and Lake Powell were always fun boating destinations. On camping trips, he would take a dirt bike and Tote Gotes for the family to ride.
Joe is survived by his loving daughters and son-in-laws, Linda (Blair) Orton, Pattie (Paul Beaver) Young, Sonia (Brent) Alberts, and Julie (Michael) Stewart, 14 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, Leuiene Curtis Olsen, sister, and Bonnie Curtis, sister-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, Janette Rowe Curtis (wife), Gene Curtis, brother, LaVon Jolley, sister, and Justin Sheen, grandson-in-law.
