Clarence A. Knight
OGDEN – Our loving father, Clarence A. Knight, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 with his family by his side.
He was born in Warren, Utah on September 24, 1928 to Enos and Esther Knight. He served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for three years, honorably discharged in November 1948.
Clarence married Norma Timms on February 22, 1947 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and they were happily married for 63 years.
One of his proudest accomplishments was his family and together they raised four children: Lauren (Randy) Sims, Michael (Linda) Knight, Brian Knight (Seattle) and Sharon (Laine) Farr (Seattle). He had 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He began his career in the automobile industry in April of 1949 with Browning Chevrolet/Ogden Buick Sales Co. for 12 years and 17 years with Jim Whetton Buick. In 1964, he bought Automotive Supply/Auto Color Co., which he owned and operated for 43 years. He started Clarence Knight Pontiac-Cadillac-GMC-Truck in 1977. He retired in 2007.
Clarence was inducted into the Utah Automobile Dealers Hall of Fame. He served as President of the Utah Automobile Dealers Association and was on the Board of Directors. He served as President of the Ogden area dealers. He made Master Cadillac Dealer and was selected Time Magazine Quality Dealer of the Year in Utah.
He will forever be in the hearts of his children whom he gave a wonderful life and many wonderful memories that they will cherish forever.
Clarence was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma M. Knight, in June of 2010.
Family will meet with friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Private family services will be held on Monday and Clarence will be buried alongside his wife at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
