Clark Newell DeMille, born March 30, 1930 to Newell and Arvena Beatty DeMille in Cedar City, UT, died peacefully at home on February 17, 2017, from kidney and heart failure.
He is preceded in death by his twin brother Clair DeMille, sister VaNeta (Roy) Fuller, daughter Karen DeMille Alvey, and granddaughter Ammie Alvey. He is survived by his sweetheart of 64 years, Barbara Berry DeMille, siblings: Walt (Elaine) DeMille, Lamond (Joan) DeMille, Buelah (Ken) Bohne, sister in law Sherry, and his three beautiful daughters: Sheila (Blake) Chard, Loni (Sergio) Macias, DeNise (Craig) Anderson, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Clark was raised in Rockville, UT, graduating from Hurricane High school where he played baseball. He joined the United States Army in 1951, and served honorably in the Korean War. After the army, he worked as a Grounds Foreman on Larsen Air Force base, and eventually on Hill Air Force Base in UT.
All those who knew Clark, knew of his love for his family, his church, and his country. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and his example of unwavering faith remains with all who knew him. He loved his family fiercely. One could expect a crushing hug or impressive handshake at every greeting, making sure each person knew he loved them and was proud of them.
Clark and Barb were members of the Gold Wing motorcycle club, and enjoyed traveling the country. When not riding motorcycles, Clark spent his time with his family, camping, traveling, and teaching his daughters to work.
Clark was the epitome of a hard worker. He instilled the value of hard work in each of his children and grandchildren, patiently working on their projects and passing along his skills. He loved to build things, from furniture to intricate doll houses, and especially layouts for his extensive model train collections. Clark was an excellent storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor, keeping listeners on edge with hilarious antics and a few appropriately placed cuss words.
A loving husband, a devoted father, a treasured grandpa and a cherished friend, Clark left a mark on this world that will never be forgotten. He is missed incredibly, but we are comforted with the knowledge that we will see him again.
