Clark Ferrell Olsen

March 12, 1940 — April 7, 2025

Clark F. Olsen graduated from this world on April 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 12, 1940, to Carl F. Olsen and Loraine R. Maughan in Provo, Utah, and was raised in Ogden, Utah. Clark graduated from Ogden High School in 1958. He attended Weber State College, now University, where he majored in Engineering and was especially proud to receive the title of “Mr. Collegiate.”

Clark was a master contractor with the family business, Olsen Construction & Engineering. The company built many of the buildings at Hill Air Force Base and was instrumental in constructing the original Pineview Dam in Ogden Canyon. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t build or fix. He was also a member of the Utah Home Builders Association and the Ogden Engineers Club.

He had many interests and was deeply dedicated to them all. He was a member of the Modern Mormon Battalion, where he served to honor the original soldiers of 1846–47. He marched in numerous parades and participated in many events, including Eagle Scout Courts of Honor—he was especially proud to take part in three of his own grandsons’ Eagle Courts of Honor.

Clark cherished time spent with family and friends, especially during summers boating on the waters of Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge. He also loved traveling the country in the motorhome, creating countless memories on family adventures. The family shared a passion forsnow skiing, and Clark was a proud stockholder at Nordic Valley Ski Resort during the 1970s and the ‘80s.

Clark was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings, with his favorites being those that involved helping the youth, particularly the Scouting program. A Boy Scout himself, he was honored with the Silver Beaver Award by the Boy Scouts of America for his outstanding contributions to the program.

Clark married Brenda Nesossis in 1961. Together they had three children. They later divorced. He married his childhood friend and neighbor, Joyce Littleford, on January 8, 1988, and they celebrated 37 wonderful years together.

Clark is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce; his three children: Craig (Tina) of Huntsville, Christy Frazier (Chris) of Syracuse, and Bonnie Hyde (Jeff) of Eden; and his three stepchildren: Bryan Atwood (Julie) of St. George, Stephanie Boyer of Nampa, ID, and Richard Howes (Hilary) of Kaysville. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren (with 2 more on the way), and his three sisters: Patricia, Lois, and Jenny.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the LDS Stake Center, 2024 S. 1475 W., Syracuse, Utah. Friends and family may visit from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the service.
