Claudia Kay Allen, at the age of 82, passed away on the morning of Thursday, December 1, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Claudia was born on June 23, 1940, to Kenneth and Clare Hansen in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the big sister to Maxine, Tamera, Jill and Mark, whom lovingly called her ‘YaYa.’
Claudia attended South High School in Salt Lake City. After graduation, she joined the Telephone Company, she loved this prominent position, where she worked for many years.
In 1962, Claudia married Lee G. Stoddard in Salt Lake City and started their family of three daughters, Leslie, Sheri and Lori. Together, they loved the outdoors, skiing, hunting, fishing & camping.
The couple later divorced. Claudia married Thomas Allen on February 14, 1989. With that union, she gained 3 adult children; Tom, Tim and Tammy – and she loved you. Claudia and Tom loved to travel and especially treasured the time they spent at their cabin in Montpelier Idaho.
Claudia loved Mother Nature, especially the Utah mountains. She loved taking walks and riding 4-wheelers, she loved flowers and animals of every kind. Claudia was artistic, she loved to draw, sew and crochet. She will be remembered for her funny, witty personality, for her love of ice cream and black coffee, for her frequent ‘itchy nose,’ for her sweet – yet spunky spirit and for her love of family. She will be forever loved and missed by all those that knew her.
Claudia is survived by her husband, Thomas Allen, Florida; sisters, Maxine Black and Jill Dibble and her brother, Mark (Kim) Hansen. Her daughters; Leslie (Trent) Strayhorn, Sheri (Mark) Maes and Lori Stoddard, as well as Tom (Lisa) Allen, Tim (Kenia) Allen and Tammy (Keith) Kamin; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren with more expected next Spring; and many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt YaYa dearly. Claudia is preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Tam.
Her daughters wish to express their gratitude, their appreciation and sincere thanks to the many sweet care givers at The Auberge in North Ogden and Bristol Hospice, they showed love and dedication and gave abundant compassion to Mom. They truly cared for her like she was family.
Now Mom, it is our turn to say – ‘Love You More’
