Our loving brother, cousin, and friend Clayton Lewis Jones passed away on Feb 9, 2023 in the Pleasant View Assisted Living Center in Layton, Utah. Clayton was born October 18, 1946 to Eugene and Dora Jones In Logan, Utah.
Clayton was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Orem High School in 1963. He worked at Deseret Industries for several years and was able to earn money to buy his first car, a station wagon, which he enjoyed driving all over. He filled it with oil cans, supplies and gas to be helpful to others on the highway. He also loved music. He played the clarinet in middle school and loved listening to different kinds of music. He also loved singing in his church choir and took singing lessons to improve his voice.
Clayton enjoyed working. He liked spending his summers up at his uncle’s farm in Benson Utah where he helped baling hay, driving the tractor, feeding the cows and he especially loved riding the horses. He was known for his cowboy hats and cowboy boots, which he wore proudly. He liked to be helpful to others and stay busy and working. He worked at a shop dipping candles, at an Air Force Base, in thrift stores, and at the Red Lobster restaurant. His favorite job was working for Enable Utah on an assembly line putting parts together.
Clayton had a love for people and would often visit his relatives that lived close to him. He liked to tease and tell jokes and he made friends wherever he went. He will always be remembered as being helpful and kind to those around him. We want to thank Eva Barnett and her family for the love, care, and support they gave to Clayton the last ten years of his life.
He is survived by his brother Melvin Jones and two sisters Judy Jones Penrod and Kristine Jones Williams. He was preceded by his parents Eugene Lewis Jones and Dora Petersen Jones.
