Cleo Barnes
BOUNTIFUL – Cleo Thornton Barnes passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008 at her home in Bountiful, Utah.
She was born February 27, 1924 in Mendon, Utah the daughter of Burley Anson and Sarah Ann Bird Thornton, where she lived until she was 11 years old. She spent her childhood in Wellsville, Utah.
Cleo married Grant Davis Wilson, later divorced. Married Roy Eugene Barnes July 26, 1949 in Logan, Utah. They lived in Ogden, Utah until 1955 when they moved to Bountiful, Utah. She worked for JC Penney Co. in Ogden and for Farmers State Bank and Tracy Collins Bank in Bountiful.
She was a member of the LDS Church, the UPRR old timers club, senior friends and the Golden Years Center.
Survived by her son Brent Eugene Barnes of Hermiston, OR and his two children Nicole and Nathan Barnes; daughter Norene Wilson Barton (J Golden) and their six children, Teresa (Todd) Wendel, Jason (Kathy) Barton, Nannette (Barry) Robertson, Jay Golden (Tina) Barton, Candice (Jeff) Reynolds and Jared (Jenny) Barton; 20 great - grandchildren; sisters Colleen Hardman and Irma James (Lynn); brother Farrell B. Parker. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy, son Gary Roy Barnes, and sister Delpha Zobel.
Cleo wished to thank her son Brent, his two children; and Jason and Kathy Barton and their four boys for all being so good to her. In lieu of flowers Cleo requested donations to the American Cancer Society.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Lakeview Memorial Park, 1640 E. Lakeview Dr., Bountiful. Friends may call Wed. 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Thurs. 12:30 – 1:30 pm prior to the graveside services.
