KAYSVILLE - Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Clesse Snow Hilton, was released from mortality on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at his home in Kaysville, Utah after a courageous eleven year fight against multiple myeloma. He was born June 13, 1930 to Wilford "B" and Vera Snow Hilton in Delta, Utah. He grew up working hard on the family farm, and learned from the example set by his parents to love the Lord and to serve his fellow beings. Clesse was always an excellent student. He served as student body president of Delta High School.
Clesse served in the LDS Great Lakes Mission, and afterward was called to serve in Germany with the US Army. He married Rebecca Brough on June 8, 1954 in Germany. They were sealed in the Salt Lake temple when they returned. Clesse graduated from BYU, taught math and science at North Davis Junior High School for two years, and then worked for the IRS the remainder of his career. He kept a small orchard and a large garden for most of his adult life, and he loved to participate in the miracle of life that the Earth produced each spring. He also loved the outdoors, spending time at his cabin, and backpacking in the Uinta Mountains.
Among many other callings, Clesse served as bishop and stake president. He was always active in the Boy Scouts, serving as president of the Trapper Trails council and in other positions in the council leadership. He was awarded the Silver Beaver. He and Becky served as missionaries in the Manchester, England mission after their retirement, spending the bulk of their time in northern Wales. All who knew Clesse were blessed by his humility, his integrity, and his unshakeable faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Clesse is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rebecca; children Susan (Richard) Johnston of Kaysville, Alan (Beth) Hilton of Fruit Heights, David Hilton of Orem, Eileen Hilton of Orem, Todd (Pam) Hilton of Bountiful, and Monte (Lisa) Hilton of Kaysville, as well as 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Lora Whiting, Carol Prusse, Dawn Porter, Bruce Hilton, and Lael Lovell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gill, and his daughter, Vivian.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville 13th Ward Chapel, 200 N. 875 E., Kaysville.
