Clifford Buckley

September 21, 1948 — September 26, 2018

Clifford Chris Buckley, Sr.

9/21/48-9/26/2018

Clifford C. Buckley “Cliff” passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 with his loving wife and son by his side.

Cliff was born and raised in Utah County and was a graduate of Orem High in 1967.

He married his wife Paula in 1967 and they had their first son, Chris Jr. later that year. He also started working at HAFB the same year. Two years later the family had a second son, Shane.

Cliff worked at Hill until he was partially medically retired in 1977. Later that year he started working at Dick Kearsley Service Center in Clearfield. Customers would often call and ask for him by name when an appliance broke. He was finally fully medically retired in 1989.

1983 brought another Buckley boy, Jesse; and he adopted another son, Kyle D. Crosby in 1987. Cliff and Jesse were quite the pair spending their summers in Alaska salmon fishing. He was an avid hunter and loved being around the campfire with friends and family swapping stories and giving hunting advice about “wavin’ the barrel at them.” He had an affinity for Chevrolets especially 1958 Passenger Models and the Notorious 409 V-8 the Beach Boys sang about.

Despite being disabled from a 1964 auto accident along with his brother Nolan he could climb mountains where you were more likely to find a Mountain Goat than a deer or elk. He taught his sons how to hunt and fish perhaps the greatest gift a father could give. If one of his kid’s friends were kicked out of the house “The Old Man” always made sure they had a roof over their head and something to eat – he had the Soul of a Saint. He appeared as Santa Claus at family functions and loved children often giving them a treat or slipping them a dollar bill for doing a good job at various multi-family functions. He was always happy to hear from his sons (Chris-USMC) and (Shane – USN Ret.) who were preserving freedom half a world away deployed to Combat Zones – they called late nights in early mornings and he always was happy to hear that they were safe and doing well. They were his pride and joy and he had no problem telling the World how proud he was of them.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Murdock Buckley - 1992, mother, Dortha - 1973, his eldest son, Chris Jr. – 2016, and his youngest boy, Jesse-2018.
