Clifford “Dee” Spinden left this world to make new adventures in the next on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Born on May 29, 1946, to Clifford Spinden and Shirley Nye, Dee grew up in the Shupe Edition and Nye Hill in Ogden. Dee graduated from Ben Lomond High where he took first place in pole vaulting. After high school he completed vocational training as a Qualified Journeyman Carpenter and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Union 450. Dee proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He married the love of his life, Judy Schofield, on November 15, 1968, in Ogden. Dee and Judy have known each other since childhood and continued to be best friends throughout their 45 years of marriage.
Dee continued laboring in the carpentry and construction industry, working hard his whole life. Weekends were family time and Dee took his family camping, fishing, hunting, target practicing and riding ATVs. He enjoyed Triumph motorcycles, wood working, playing the guitar, trapping, and spending time with his nine grandchildren. He was an active member of the Weber Chapter of A.B.A.T.E. where he made many good friends. Dee’s best friend was his dog, Willey, an English Pointer who joined him on many adventures and who shared his enthusiasm for the great outdoors.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Judy; son, Trent (Jessica) Spinden; daughter, Lisa (Todd) Wheelwright; grandchildren, Kambri and Walker Spinden; and Gavin, Landon, Payton, Azriel, Colter, Kelsen, and Ryland Wheelwright; his dog, Willey; brothers, Gerry (Kay) Spinden, David (JoAnn) Spinden, and Mark (Sandy) Spinden.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
