Clive J. Newman
WASHINGTON TERRACE – Clive J. Newman, 88, died Friday, September 28, 2007 at his home with his loving family at his side.
He was born December 7, 1918 in Ogden, the son of Jefferson Brown and Martha Hall Frazier Newman. He was raised in Tremonton, Utah.
Clive served with the U.S. Navy for eight years and was present during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
He married Vera Bennett in June of 1942. They had two girls, Cheryl and Joy, and were later divorced. Clive then found the love of his life, Clone Woolsey, and they were married in August of 1953 in Evanston, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and together they raised four beautiful daughters, Debra Beasley, Joyce Boren, Pamela Petrilla and Carolyn Hillier.
Clive was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled a two year Stake Mission. He also served in many other callings.
He worked at Defense Depot Ogden as an inspector where he retired following many years of service.
Clive loved to travel was always on the go - he always needed to be somewhere or see something. He loved his family so very much, and his wife, Clone, was his shining star. He loved to laugh and tease and always ready and willing to hear a good story. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Clone of Washington Terrace; six daughters, Cheryl Bowden, Reno, NV; April Joy Uhart, Minden, NV; Carolyn Hillier, Geneva, ID; Debra N. Beasley, South Ogden; Joyce N. Boren, San Diego, CA; Pamela N. Petrilla, Riverdale; 24 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother and two sisters, Devoo Newman, Ogden; Theola Spackman, Layton; and Jane Thurman, Roy.
Preceding Clive in death were his parents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
