Clyde passed away on February 21, 2018, with his son, Randy, and his wife, Renee, by his side. Reneé has continuously been by Clyde’s side as his caregiver, advocate and champion through his journey with Alzheimer’s. He was 94.

Clyde was born on October 29, 1923, in Mineral Wells, West Virginia, the third of four children, born to Selvyn A. and Loie Robinson Flinn. The family moved to Congress, Ohio, when he was a teenager. In 1951, he moved to Van Nuys, California and went to work for the Marquardt Corporation. He also owned a body shop and began calling square dances. He relocated to Ogden when Marquardt opened a plant here, in 1957. He started a beginner’s square dance group that later became known as the Red Hots. He also called for the Hoop ‘N’ Hollers.

He changed careers in 1963, becoming an agent for the State Farm Insurance Company. He married Reneé Cook on May 31, 1975, in Hamilton, Montana. They worked together, for State Farm, until his 32nd year with the company, 1995, when they both retired. Auto body repair and snowmobiling were his hobbies of choice; having a shiny new car or making the highest mark on the hill gave him great joy.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Reneé; children, Randy (Toni) and Jason (Laura); Reneé’s son, Darrin (Julie) France; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and brother, Max.  He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law; his daughter, Louise; Reneé’s son, Brett France; his sister, Neta Pursley; and his brother, Elwin.

Warmest appreciation to Guy Thornock and Barry Winget for their regular visits with Clyde and special thanks to the staff of Quail Meadow Assisted Living Memory Unit and Comfort Works Hospice staff.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 East 2850 North, North Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.
