Clyde Grant Smith, Sr

Clyde Grant Smith, Sr., our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, 79, passed away on December 22, 2012.

Clyde was born on August 5, 1933, a son to George William and Margaret McNeal Smith. He grew up in Smithfield and married his sweetheart, Barbara Jean Bronson on March 28, 1960. They later settled in Clinton where they raised their family and Clyde worked as an aircraft mechanic at Hill Air Force Base.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved spending time outside doing yard work and he loved old cars.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters Christine (Kim) Thompson, Cindy (Eric) Maylin, Cheryl Smith, and Connie (Jerry) Clair; sons, Clyde (Wendy) Smith, Jr., Craig (Lucille) Smith, and David (Rose) Acord; brother, Leon (Glenna) Smith; 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wendell and Jay; and sister, Alice.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Clinton 15th ward LDS Chapel, 2841 West 1300 North. Family will meet with friends on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Clinton City cemetery.
