Colene Manzanares

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Colene Wallace Manzanares, 79, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at her home, attended to by her husband, John.

Colene was born February 16, 1942 in Brigham City, Utah to Kenneth E. Wallace and Margie Housley Wallace. From an early age she proved to be a very caring person to her younger siblings. Tending them and seeing to their welfare.

In 1958, she married her life partner, John Clifford Manzanares. In 1960, they were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. They had two boys, Steven Clifford and Jeffrey Lynn and from these two she was blessed with an ever-growing family that she loved dearly and they reciprocated that love whenever they saw her. She was truly blessed and knew it.

A lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Colene was a faithful servant to the very end. She served in many positions and always anxious to serve. She taught Sunday School, Primary, served as Primary President, Gospel Doctrine Instructor, Activities Coordinator, Visiting Teacher and anywhere else as needed.

She cared for her father until his passing and then her mother until her passing, even though it impacted her health. She was never one to shirk responsibility.

She loved to travel and during her life was able to travel extensively. She loved camping, fishing and hunting. Being a mother of boys was her destiny and she loved it all. She will be missed and loved forever.

Colene leaves behind her husband, two sons, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren two brothers, a sister and a strung of family too long to list. She loved them all and always showed it.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 at  2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
