Colleen Dickson Cummings

Colleen Dickson Cummings passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on March 15, 2014. She was born in Ogden, Utah at Dee Memorial Hospital to LaVern J. and Charlotte LaVon Robins Dickson. She was raised in Midvale, Utah where she attended Midvale Elementary and Midvale Jr. High School. She graduated from Jordan High School. She attended the University of Utah on a Scholarship. Colleen served an LDS mission to the North Central States Mission from October 1949 to April 1951. She was sealed to her lifelong sweetheart Todd Caine Cummings in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 2, 1951 by Apostle John A. Widtsoe. She had a great love for music and was a talented musician who enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She served as a ward organist in the Ogden 48th Ward and the Ben Lomond 1st Ward. She played as an organist in the Ogden LDS Temple for over 13 years.
She served in various church callings throughout her life. She served in the Relief Society and Primary Presidencies of the Ogden 48th Ward. She served faithfully with her husband as Stake Missionaries in the Ben Lomond Stake. She served with her husband faithfully as an Employment Specialist for 30 months at the Ogden LDS Employment Center.
Colleen worked at the Ogden Internal Revenue Service for over 20 years and worked with her husband at the National Institute of Fitness in St. George, Utah for eight years as an office administrator.
She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, needlepoint, and was a gifted pianist and vocalist. She loved family history work and was always the family photographer who captured the Kodak moments.
Her greatest love was her family. Colleen and Todd have been lifelong sweethearts celebrating over 62 years of marriage. She has four wonderful children, two sons and two daughters, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Colleen is survived by her husband, Todd Caine Cummings of Ogden; children, Dr. Todd Cary (Kay) Cummings of South Ogden; Vicki Lynn (Dr. Marc) Sorenson, St. George; Bishop Greg Van (Kathy) Cummings of Farr West; and Debbie Ann (Bishop Phillip) Child of North Ogden. She is also survived by one brother, Ramon (Colleen) Dickson of Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond 1st Ward Chapel, 575 East 3100 North, North Ogden, with Bishop Craig Briggs officiating. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd., and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
